It was my fifteenth day in Canada, I thought I had been changing these days. When I arrived Vancouver and came in our home. The feeling was probably different from that of 5050 Cordova Bay in Victoria. It made me think more about the time to leave. I needed to treasure the time when I was still in Canada as much as I could. This was because I knew that it was also my first time and last time to be in this house with my friends. It inspired me that I can't treasure anything when something is over. I need to treasure everything that I have owned.
We went to Eric’s office and had lessons about redlen technologies. It is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-resolution Cadmium-Zinc-Telluride. Not only does his company focus on supporting all X-Ray and imaging technologies etc,it also has a strong emphasis on security and medical imaging. It brings convenience to us and users of the technology more income.
We were going to take video about my life without my real hand but the other people to become my hand. Linda and Daisy became my hand and I needed to eat chocolate. It was such fun, because I couldn't control their hand and they couldn't find the way to open the chocolate bar. I tried to use my voice to give direction for them but Mimi said that I couldn't do that. This was because I needed to treat them as my hand. It has inspired me to think of collaboration with them. I thought that no one can succeed on their own but they can become successful by taking one’s fault to reference and improve. Also one can take other people's idea to become our own idea. Therefore they can achieve success easier by taking other people's idea and become our own idea.
We also hiked up Mount Doug. The path was not very difficult for me, because when I was little, I always climbed and hiked. ππI enjoyed exercising. The hike recalled my childhood memories, I still remember when I was 8 years old, I used to climb with my brother and sister. My sister is not good at climbing but I am. So I would always hide behind trees and scare her. It was a such beautiful memories in my life.
We went to Costco to do our economic project and shop. When we arrived at Costco, it was still closed. Then we waited in the front and sang ''One Call Away'' . After 20 minutes it was opened. It is so big and they had a wide variety foods. In the left photo, it is our lunch. We tried poutine. It was so delicious.
Also we went to Whistler mountain and we took a Gondola up the mountain. This gondola was not too far off the ground, so I enjoyed the ride. We also took the Peak-to-Peak Gondola and wow, it was very high. I didn’t like it at all even though the views were stunning. However, Whistler Mountain is such wonderful place. We ate lunch at the top, and then we walked to the top where the snow was!! I loved being on a big snowy mountain top. Eric, Steven and I had fun having snow ball games. It was just like it was winter, only I think, since it was summer time, a lot warmer! ☃☃☃
After the BC Museum, we went to The Noodle box to have dinner. I had a Coconut Curry Noodlebox. It was not very spicy. I liked this food but there was too much chicken. I just couldn’t finish it. I liked the restaurant’s decorations. They really attracted my attention and I couldn’t take my eyes off the interior. TheLED lights were very beautiful.
We also went to a beach called ‘Long beach’. It is the most beautiful beach that I have ever seen whether the sun shines or not. The rains had stopped earlier in the morning, but when we arrived at Long Beach the sun, hidden behind the mist and fog, gave the beach a feeling of walking into the unknown. We walked along the beach, played in the sand and at the water’s edge. It was shallow, and the waves rolled on and on. There were surfers in and out of the water, and they were in such good shape. π We couldn’t help but admire their fitness and strength.
Afterwards, we went back to our campsite to make dinner – a yummy dinner with potato salad, yummy hot dogs, which we roasted over our campfire, and for dessert fruit and roasted marshmallows.
We also played volleyball and keep away on the beach. It was such fun to play with our friends and watch local tourists come and go. We met different people on the beach, but my favourite was meeting Bunn-Bunn the pet rabbit.
Our last activity was our dinner cruise around Vancouver Harbour. We were all so excited, because finally, we were doing something that we could really get dressed up for….well at least us girls were excited, I’m not too sure whether the boys cared or not, but we girls did! So after getting all dressed up, we headed off for this final activity. Even though, it was a bit rainy, so the views were not as gorgeous as we would have liked, being on a boat and cruising around Vancouver was still very interesting. I did miss not seeing the sunset over Bowen Island though, because Mimi told us that it would be lovely.
I was also a bit down for this activity, because it was our last activity…well not quite…before we headed home. π€π€π€ It wasn’t our last activity because Eric and Mimi had agreed that we could have a slumber party when we got home. We were so happy about this and it was so much fun. We played this mystery game, which got us talking and laughing a lot. Mimi and Eric joined in the game until about 1pm, but we stayed up much later than that.
We had packed at dinner time, so all we had to do in the morning was to have our last showers, breakfast, and take a last group photo.
I still remember four days before, when we arrived to Vancouver, Mimi asked us a question "Did I want to go home"? My answer was probably YES. This was because I really missed home, I missed my friends, I missed my bed, I missed everything in Hong Kong! On that moment I only wanted to go home. ππππππ
Four days later, I knew that it was time to go home, but I couldn’t bear to leave Canada. I think that 5055 Cordova Bay is my second home. It is such a fun home. It had the Pacific Ocean in front of it to enjoy and play in, and almost every night, we played and sang on the ground floor.
Our big family made up of Mimi, Eric, Steven, Daisy, Takky, Linda, Emily, Summer, Billy, me, gathered here daily and had such fun with each other and all those who came and visited and played with us. We left, because we had no choice but to leave. It was the end of our time at 5055 Cordova Bay. We had to leave the most beautiful place that I have ever been. It reminds me of the song "Let Her Go", but I will never let her go. All the memories of this journey and all it has taught me, and how it has changed me will always be mine.
But now I am home in Hong Kong, and I am missing Canada!!!ππππππI am missing my second home, family, and friends. Every day these, Let Her Go lyrics play in mind: Well you only need the light when it's burning low. Only miss the sun when it starts to snow. Only know you love her when you let her go. Only know you've been high when you're feeling low. Only hate the road when you're missing home. Only know you love her when you let her go. And you let her go. Staring at the bottom of your glass, Hoping one day you'll make a dream last. But dreams come slow and they go so fast. You see her when you close your eyes. Maybe one day you'll understand why. Everything you touch surely dies. 'Cause you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when ......
I know even if I go to Canada again, the feeling might not be same, but I will not forget anything that I experienced with my second family and friends in Canada!!!πππππππ What a fabulous journey! It changed me, and doing so, changed my life.
We went to Capilano Suspension Bridge and walked across it. It shook a lot when we walked, so it was easy to lose my balance, but I am good on my feet, so I didn’t stumble at all. There were so many people. It was hard to really enjoy this experience. However, the views were stunning, because we not only got to see into the forest but walk at the top of it too. It was neat being in the treetops without having to climb a tree. There were also some really neat waterfalls which I loved seeing. If there hadn’t been so many people, I think it would have been a very lovely and peaceful place to visit. We also got to see the First Nations totems and have our picture taken with them. They are cool. They tell the story of a family. Even though, I couldn’t understand the pictures and the story, they looked very different and interesting.
Today, we went to have Breakfast with the Grizzly Bears on Grouse Mountain. This was the most unforgettable day. I was so excited to have breakfast with the Grizzlies; however, by the end of this activity, I realized that I should not have been excited at all!! We had to ride a big cable car to the top of Grouse Mountain and then walk for about 20 minutes. First, I hate Cable Cars and second it was very high, so I was very scared!!! π¨π¨π¨
My friends always tell me I am very odd, because I like to ride π’roller coasters, but I don't like to take cable cars, but that is just the way I am. By the time we arrived at the place where we could watch the Grizzly bears, there were a lot of flies!!! Not, just a few, but a lot. I thought that if I opened my mouth, they would fly right in and be my breakfast! YUCK!!!! π£π£π£π£ Because of this, I couldn’t concentrate on the Grizzly Bears or everything our guide told us about them. However, I did they were cute, and I was saddened by how when they were babies their mothers had died and they had to be put in a protected area.
By the time we left Victoria and went to Vancouver, I was starting to miss home, especially my mom’s cooking. I was enjoying everything we were eating, but there is nothing like my mom’s cooking!
The first morning was rainy, so we went shopping before going to the Vancouver Aquarium. There were different types sea animals, such as jellyfish, sea turtles, octopus and shrimp etc. Look at last picture, it is a miniature shrimp. Miniature shrimp were discovered in 1981 by scientists. The are 3cm long and they always disappear in shallow rocky areas. πΆπΆπΆ
We got up real early for our Squamish-Whistler trip. In Squamish, we went to the Britannica Copper Mine and museum which teaches people about how copper was mined. We even got to go on a real mine railway and go inside the mine itself to learn how copper was mined. This was very interesting and practical, even though I was not so interested in the museum itself, I did really like the panning for gold, copper, and gems activity. I managed to find some of all three. And although my elective is chemistry and I could have learned more about chemistry in the museum, I didn’t find it very interesting, what I did really like was learning more about the history of copper and the role in plays in creating many modern gadgets.
